It was a simple, ordinary-sounding, and well-travelled case of a man in London having to be extradited to a small village in Northern Ireland because he had lied about an address. The young man from Broughshane had travelled to Belfast to give a speech, but in the course of it had claimed to be in Ireland. He told police he was in Belfast for a “fun night”. In an interview, he claimed to be from the United Kingdom but was actually from Canada, where he lived for a few months. He had arrived in Belfast in August and moved to Broughshane the following week. His lawyer asked for the arrest warrant to be removed and for the accused to be extradited to the Northern Ireland capital.
