Fiber optic cables affording new outlets for high-speed imaging by enabling CoaXPress Express to be used.

A modified version of CoaXPress 2.1, known as CXPoF, allows for the transmission of data from the camera to the host computer to be done through optical fiber cables instead of standard copper cables. CXPoF has the bandwidth of CoaXPress 2.1, but also offers the benefits of fiber optic applications, such as having longer cable lengths, being less prone to electrical noise and having a more compact design.
