Yesterday, OpenAI released its GPT-4 program and Anthropic launched its own ChatGPT invention known as Claude. At the same time, Quora declared that its chatbot Poe will now have a fee-based version that gives users the chance to inquire bots run by these models.
A Poe subscription has a cost of $19.99 monthly or $199.99 annually, and can currently only be purchased with an iOS or Mac that uses Apple Silicon. The firm is in the process of making the paid option available to purchase on the internet.
Poe was initially introduced by Quora in December of last year as a beta program available to a select group of people. It was then made accessible to all Apple device users in the previous month.
Adam D’Angelo, the CEO of Quora, revealed in a Twitter thread that people who have paid for the service are able to converse with robots that are powered by GPT-4 and Claude+ (1.2). Unfortunately, the paid tier does not allow customers to ask infinite questions using these models; Poe has limited the usage to 300 GPT-4 and 1000 Claude 1.2 messages every month. The service warned that once the monthly quota is exceeded, the “availability or quality of the bot may be diminished.”
Currently, people who don’t have to pay can try out and inquire about the models once daily without being charged. D’Angelo articulated that people can have an infinite amount of interactions with other robots like ChatGPT, Claude, Sage, and Dragonfly. Poe portrayed these models to have numerous roles and components. This is what the company has to say about the bots:
- Claude often excels in creative writing activities, yet is more likely to avoid answering questions. Claude+ excels even more in such tasks, particularly in non-English languages, providing more detailed responses than Claude in English. Sage and ChatGPT usually deliver better performance in languages aside from English and have an advantage in programming-related tasks. Dragonfly, on the other hand, tends to have a shorter output. Shorter commands are more likely to be followed by Dragonfly, especially when an example is provided. GPT-4 is a great improvement in comparison to ChatGPT and is the most advanced language model available. It is especially adept at creative writing, problem-solving (e.g. mathematics and physics), and following instructions.
It is worth noting that Sage and Claude do not possess any information regarding occurrences after 2021, and Dragonfly might reject certain queries. When beginning a dialogue with a bot, the application will show a warning, advising not to take the responses as absolute truth, in order to prevent the manipulation of the bot into stating questionable or inaccurate remarks. These are measures put in place to protect against this.
At present, there is no direct connection between Quora and Poe. However, a few weeks ago, the organization declared that if the material generated by Poe satisfies certain conditions, it could be shared on the Q&A website that has more than 400 million monthly visitors.
Duolingo revealed a GPT-4-driven membership that allows a computerized teacher to study foreign languages. In addition, Microsoft disclosed that Bing has been utilizing GPT-4 the whole time. Furthermore, the Bing chat can now send up to 150 messages in a day. Khan Academy declared that they are trying out an AI helper that will assist teachers with administrative jobs as an assistant teacher. Alternatively, learners can benefit from this to acquire assistance with math and put forward concepts for stories.
OpenAI and Anthropic have both recently announced the development of new bots, which will likely lead to an increase in the utilization of this technology for consumer applications.
